Rick Dowling was chased all week, but never passed. The result was a second straight victory in the Connecticut Mid-Amateur Championship.
Dowling (Golf Performance Center) set the pace with an opening-round 65 at the Country Club of New Canaan on Tuesday, and protected that margin through both of Wednesday’s rounds to win by five shots over Cody Paladino (Hartford GC).
Steve Ferraro (Quinnatisset Country Club) finished third, seven shots back. Ben Day (New Haven CC), who played in the final threesome on Wednesday, was eight back in fourth. Only those four players finished under par for the week.
Dowling became the first repeat winner of the event since Jeff Hedden accomplished that feat in 2005-06.
