The New England Amateur will take place from July 18-20 at The Woodlands Club in Falmouth, Maine. It is a 54-hole stroke play event. Last year's winner, Jared Nelson is not in the field.
The event is a gathering of the best juniors, college players and mid-am golfers in the region. The likes of Matt Parziale, John Hayes IV, Colin Brennan, Kevin Silva, Bobby Leopold, and Nick McLaughlin represent some of the veterans in the field.
While four of the six 2023 state amateur champions will be competing, Rick Dowling of Connecticut will be the only state amateur champion not on the property at Woodlands CC. Ryan Downes of Massachusetts is also not playing, but he will be caddying for Cole Banning. Banning was on Downes' bag for the Mass. Amateur last week. Downes thought it was only fair to return the favor.
There are quite a few talented juniors and college players in the field. Here are 11 players worth keeping an eye on this week in Maine.
