We often hear the phrase “breakout season” to describe the performance of a player that has taken a significant leap forward, typically marked by an uptick in statistical output.
Enter CJ Winchenbaugh. Start to finish, the current Belmont Hill senior ticked all the boxes last year.
Having burst onto the stage so dramatically, Winchenbaugh stands poised to lead his Sextants teammates to a successful defense of the ISL team (Kingman) championship, slated for May 20 at Red Tail. Winchenbaugh then plans a full campaign of amateur tournaments before heading off to his freshman year at Georgetown University.
The runway for Winchenbaugh’s 2023 season traces back to the fall of 2022, when he recorded two U.S. Challenge Cup victories (Granite State and Nutmeg) over a 23-day span.
