Jeremy Burke (Hoodkroft CC) rallied on the back nine to take a two-shot lead in the New Hampshire Junior Championship, a 54-hole stroke-play event being played this week at the Country Club of New Hampshire in North Sutton.
Burke made the turn at even par, and went on to birdie No. 11 and No. 12. His lone bogey on the back nine, at No. 16, left him with a 1-under 71, the only golfer who broke par.
“I hit a lot of drives straight, which was really key on this course,” said Burke. “On the 11th hole, I chipped in for birdie, which was very helpful, and on the hole after that I made a 25-foot putt for birdie.”
Evan Rollins (Laconia CC) is two shots back at 73, the highlight of his round the three straight birdies he made on No. 6, No. 7 and No. 8 to grab the early lead.
