The women’s NCAA golf regionals kick off on May 8. The 54-hole event offers 72 teams and 36 individuals an opportunity to play for a spot in the national championship at Grayhawk Golf Club in Scottsdale, Ariz from May 19-24.
There are 12 women’s Division 1 programs in New England. Two of them have extended their season and will tee it up in the NCAA Regionals. Sacred Heart won the Northeast Conference Championship, and Quinnipiac won the MAAC Conference for the third straight year.
The regionals also invite deserving individual golfers whose teams didn’t qualify. In the northeast, those slots are typically reserved for players that win the individual title in their conference. In Power 5 conferences, more than just the medalists typically earn invitations for their performances.
Two New England women, Christy Chen of Boston University and Isabella Gomez of Harvard, will travel to regional sites and represent their teams as individuals.
Let’s meet the teams and players who will be teeing it up May 8-10 in search of a national championship berth.
