Rhode Island may be the smallest state, but it punches above its weight when it comes to the game of golf.
Joe McDonald of the Rhode Island Golf Association was our guest on the latest edition of the On Course Podcast to take about the state of the game in the Ocean State.
McDonald, a former hockey writer who for decades covered the Bruins and the NHL for The Athletic, ESPN and the Providence Journal among other outlets, has now become an ambassador for the game of golf in his home state.
He regaled us with stories about the intersection of the hockey and golf worlds. But he also talked a lot about the enormous amount of young golfing talent in Rhode Island now.
