The U.S. Senior Women's Open will kick off on Thursday, August 24 at Waverley CC in Portland, Oregon. Waverley has a rich history, as it has hosted a handful of USGA events over the years. Most notably, Tiger Woods won his third straight U.S. Junior Amateur there in 1993.
This is the fifth U.S. Senior Women's Amateur that has been contested, making it one of the newest USGA Championships; only the U.S. Adaptive Championship is younger. Last year, American Jill McGill broke a European stronghold on the event with her win at NCR Country Club.
There are three players from New England who will travel out to Portland, Oregon to compete with major winners like Annika Sorenstam and Julie Inkster. Inkster won the 1981 U.S. Women's Amateur at Waverley.
