If you were looking for a way to jump-start a college golf season in dramatic fashion, you’d have to say that Christian Emmerich and Owen Egan discovered as good a way as any.
How about making one of the rarest shots in golf – an albatross – on consecutive swings.
That’s right, back-to-back 2s at the eighth hole at Blackstone National GC in Sutton, Mass. The magic happened during a qualifying round to determine who fills out the team for Holy Cross’ first tournament of the season – the Ryan T. Lee Memorial in Kensington, Conn., this Saturday and Sunday.
Head coach Steve Napoli was an eyewitness and is still in awe.
“Pretty wild,” said Napoli, who watched both Emmerich and Egan take extremely bold lines off the tee.
