Megan Khang (Rockland, Mass.) arrived on the LPGA Tour as a precocious 17-year-old who decided to skip college and play professional golf. Eight years later, she has written the next chapter of her American Dream, in Vancouver, Canada, as she claimed her first win on the LPGA Tour at the CPKC Women's Open.
It wasn't easy; winning never is at the highest level of professional golf.
"It was tough today. I knew in my head I had a three-shot lead. You don't really think about results, but of course you want to get the win at the end of the day," Khang said after the win.
Khang grabbed the lead on Friday with a 66, which was tied for the low round of the tournament. On Saturday, Khang slipped backward in the middle of her round as she battled seasoned veterans and major winners. But two late birdies, including one on the 18th hole when she sank a 20-foot putt, left Khang with a three-shot lead heading into the final round after a solid 68.
