Fran Quinn, Patrick Sheehan, and Mark Brown all arrived at the Champions Course at TPC Scottsdale for the final stage of PGA Tour Champions Q-School last week with high hopes. The three New Englanders, along with 78 other hopefuls, were vying for five coveted tour cards.
But only Quinn emerged with something on Friday — a finish tied for seventh that allows him to apply for PGA Tour Champions associate membership — meaning he can enter 2023 event qualifiers.
For Sheehan, a Warwick, R.I., native the third trip to the final stage wasn’t the charm, though he played stretches of excellent golf. His third-round 66 included a 31 on the front nine. In the end, rounds of 75-73-66-75 put Sheehan in T66.
