It took merely one season for Dover-Sherborn to settle into its new division and win a Division 2 state championship. The Raiders fired a 314 to hold off perennial powerhouse Bishop Stang by two shots at Thorny Lea CC in Brockton, Mass.
In brisk, chilly conditions that were far better than the rain that postponed the tournament by one day, the Raiders battled the challenging shots that seemed to appear everywhere at Thorny Lea. The tree-lined course can wreak havoc on inaccurate shots, and the greens leave no room for error.
Dover-Sherborn, which won its third consecutive South sectional championship last week, picked up where it left off.
Sophomore Charlie Potter fired a 1-over 71 to win the individual title and lead Dover-Sherborn to its second team title in three years. In 2021, the Raiders conquered Division 3. Potter was just an eighth grader then, but now he's emerged as a force to be reckoned with.
