The Massachusetts Division 2 state championship tickets have been punched. The four regional sections will each send three teams to Maplegate Country Club in Bellingham, Mass., to compete over 18 holes for the individual and team MIAA titles.
Each team will send six players to the event. The top four scores will count toward their final aggregate score. Considering most high school matches are nine holes, this 18-hole tournament is a bit of a different animal.
Bishop Stang is poised to defend its Division 2 crown after a strong season. Two other top-five finishers from last year, Concord-Carlisle and Old Rochester, are hoping to reach the summit this time.
The individual title will also be hotly contested. Players like Aidan Leblanc of Beverly, Matthew Bolduc of Pope Francis, Matthew Costello of Bishop Stang, and Jack Mertz of Masconomet aim to be Division 2 champion.
Here's a look at each team in the field.
