When it comes to college recruiting, it is often said that if you are good enough, coaches will find you. There is still truth to that, but in 2023, it is not a practical way to go about being recruited as a college golfer if you want to maximize your options.
Junior players typically play on tours such as American Junior Golf Association (AJGA), regional tours put on by golf associations and PGA Sections, and in state junior events; but coaches often have a difficult time getting to those tournaments because recruiting budgets – especially at the Division III level – are minuscule. Also, showing up at a tournament looking for players without knowing anything about their academic standing is inefficient.
For the last two years, College Golf Experience (CGX) has been providing an exclusive opportunity to get aspiring college golfers and their parents to build relationships with, learn from, and engage with college coaches in a showcase camp setting. This year it’s holding its DIII Elite Summer Camp in Windsor, Conn., as a forum for prospective college golfers with high academic achievements to connect with DIII college coaches.
