AUGUSTA, Ga. – To secure a ticket inside the gates of Augusta National Golf Club during Masters week is as coveted as it gets in American sports.
To physically be part of the festivities and attract television coverage and high-fives from the Augusta membership is bordering on the surreal.
But here’s the really special part to Willow Ruel’s participation in the annual Drive, Chip and Putt National Finals that were held April 3 as a prelude to the 86th Masters. Said Ruel: “I’m really a hockey player.”
Kids, they sure do say the darndest things. Especially true for someone who just won the chipping portion of that national final.
