If you believe in the song, then you know you don’t need a weatherman to know which way the wind blows. Fine. But should you want to know which way the golf scores will go when the wind does blow, you don’t need a weatherman, either.
Just ask a golfer.
Shawn Warren, for instance. When he was about to start his final round in the PGA Professional Championship at Barton Creek in Austin, Texas, April 20, “the wind was kicking up at about 25 (miles per hour) and it hadn’t blown like that all week.”
For Warren, the teaching pro at Falmouth CC in Maine, that meant one thing. “With the pressure of a final round, with the wind, it was a day to maybe shoot 5- or 6-under and give myself a chance,” he said.
