The prep school girls golf season each spring is a modest one, with a special convention near the end.
On Monday, May 9, the top prep school golfers in the region will gather at the historic Woodland Golf Club outside Boston for the annual Pippy O’Connor School Girl Golf Classic, the tournament that will crown NEPSAC individual and team champions for the year.
Some teams in the region have been playing and practicing for weeks, players layering against the early April chill to hone their games that many of them have tended to in the offseason.
The strongest girls teams in the region are found in Connecticut. Loomis Chaffee won the last two Pippy O’Connor team titles, in 2018 and ‘19 – ironically, after finishing second in the Founders League tournament both years – and should have a say in the championship again this year.
