Joe McMann started coaching the Milton Academy golf team in the spring of 2022. The former professional golfer fell in love with the game in college at Tufts. The Milton-raised basketball star’s golf game improved quickly, so he took the leap into the pro ranks after graduation.
McMann’s ties to Milton Academy’s athletic department came through the strength and conditioning room where his niece works. Lamar Reddicks, the Milton Academy athletic director, was also familiar with McMann’s work. He was six years behind McMann at Milton High School. Both were voted Player of the Year in their time playing high school basketball.
In short order, McMann has turned Milton Academy into a threat in the Independent School League. The school surprised the league last year when they won the Kingman Cup, an 18-hole stroke-play tournament.
