Recording your first collegiate victory is starting to become a trend with New England golfers. One week ago, three players – Michael Thorbjornsen (Stanford/Wellesley, Mass.), Ben James (University of Virginia/Milford, Conn.), and Ethan Whitney (Temple/Westminster, Mass.) – did the honors.
This week, two more joined the crowd.
Jack Boulger of Walpole, Mass., got into the act for the University of Southern California, where he is a graduate student. Posting scores of 68-67-66, Boulger finished at 12-under and won the Husky Individual Invitational in Bremerton, Wash.
At the Old Town Collegiate in Winston-Salem, N.C., Xavier Marcoux of Concord, Mass., a senior at Rutgers, shot 69-66-65 for a blistering 10-under to share medalist honors and record his first collegiate win.
