The 2022 Rhode Island high school golf season will represent two things.
The first is a return to normal. After there was no season in 2020 due to COVID, the 2021 campaign consisted of only a handful of matches per team and records really were not tracked. Teams qualified for the state championship based on season scoring average.
But this also represents one of the most fascinating high school golf seasons in recent memory. There are about five or six teams that have a real shot at winning the state championship, and the star power on those teams is through the roof.
So here are scouting reports on our 10 teams to watch — St. Raphael Academy, Ponaganset, East Providence, Middletown, South Kingstown, Barrington, Moses Brown, East Greenwich, La Salle Academy and Bishop Hendricken — this season.
