University of Central Florida first-year Molly Smith (Westford, Mass.) and Boston University standout junior Christy Chen of China are two of 21 women college golfers named to the Annika Award final fall watch list.
The Annika Award is given to the best women’s college golfer each year at the culmination of the season in May. Last year, Rose Zhang won the award. In the fall, a list of players who have played well enough to earn the attention of the committee through their excellent play is named.
Smith, who graduated this year from Westford Academy, arrived on campus in Orlando after a strong summer that had a few close calls in the Ouimet Memorial and the Mass. Women’s Amateur, where she finished in second place.
Close calls don’t ever seem to deter Smith. She pushes forward and continues to improve.
