The fall college season is an opportunity for new players to settle into their surroundings and for returners to build on their past season. With college golf events in both the fall and spring, the spring tournaments weigh a bit more on heavily is conference and national championships are decided. However, rankings and victories that are collected in the fall still impact national rankings and season-ending awards.
One player who is not on this list is Michael Thorbjornsen. The Stanford senior, who is currently No. 1 on the PGA Tour University standings, had not played a competitive event since The Western Amateur in early August. A stress fracture in his back sidelined him for the U.S. Amateur, the Walker Cup, and the entire fall college season. He is on the mend and announced he'll return to competitive golf in January when he plays in the Dubai Desert Classic from Jan. 18-21, 2024. The exemption was granted to Thorbjornsen because of his top ranking on PGA Tour U.
