Often the most compelling golf during a match-play tournament is the quarterfinal round. The players are clearly the best and are in a solid rhythm after a few days of competitive golf. It's also a tipping point where pressure really ratchets up as competitors are two wins from reaching the final.
The Mass. Women's Amateur started on Monday at Dedham Country and Polo Club, and after 36 holes of stroke play, the field has been whittled down to eight golfers.
It's taken perseverance on the challenging golf course to make it this far. Add in some torrential rain and these eight players all have a good reason to think they can reach the pinnacle on Friday afternoon and win the championship.
