The USGA runs 15 events every year. They are golf's national championships within certain categories for various golfers. For many low-handicap players, they represent the pinnacle of the game. To qualify for an event is a dream for many.
Last week, the championship season started when applications opened for the U.S Open, the U.S. Women's Open, and the U.S. Senior Open.
Over the next six weeks, other events will open their applications, and with the explosion of the game and some cool venues, including private courses, they are sure to fill quickly in Massachusetts.
Whether you are a competitive golfer who has their sites set on a qualifier or a golf fan who might like to visit a great venue to watch some excellent golf on a weekend in the spring or summer.
Some events, like the U.S. Junior Amateur, have not released all their venues yet. We'll be sure to update if any new sites pop up in New England.
