It’s understandable that he does sometimes think how his PGA Tour career might have turned out differently had he won either of those playoffs in 2015 and ’16.
But it’s a testament to the character of Jon Curran (Hopkinton, Mass.) that he gives far more attention to the bigger picture and that nothing about his decision to retire is tinted with regret.
“I thought about this last October and the realization was, I wanted to go out on a decent note," Curran said. "I didn’t want to get to that point where I didn’t know when to hang them up.”
Jim McCabe’s inaugural edition of his weekly notebook for New England Golf Journal includes a conversation with Curran and:
• Sue Curtin’s late invitation to the U.S. Women’s Amateur Four-Ball Championship
• Why Michael Thorbjornsen's (Wellesley, Mass.) slip-up at the Western Intercollegiate should be considered a blip.
• How Patrick Welch’s summer schedule is filling up.
• And much more from around the amateur and college golfing world.
