Coach Jeff Santilli had a talented Greenwich High team this season, but after 24 years of coaching, he knew state championships require more than just talent. His 2022 Cardinals were a perfect example of what it takes to win a title.
"They had an incredible work ethic," Santilli said. "They spent the summer and weekends working on their games."
It paid off for the Greenwich High Cardinals who won the Division 1 Connecticut state championship by one shot over Farmington at Stanley Golf Course.
"There's nothing I could have said in the parking lot to make the guys go out and shoot under par," Santilli said.
