The sun set in Wellesley, Mass., at 6:34 p.m. on Tuesday, Sept. 27.
As the BC High golf team bus traveled west-to east on the Mass Pike at dusk that evening, for a 20-mile trip back to its Morrissey Boulevard campus from Wellesley’s Nehoiden Golf Club, only one thing was certain.
The sun, now disappearing in the west, was also threatening to set on BC High’s entire golf season.
That afternoon, after absorbing a 220-241 thrashing at the hands of 2021 Division 1 runner-up Wellesley High School, the Eagles had officially hit rock bottom, reeling under the weight of their sixth consecutive loss.
