The Vermont high school season wrapped up with a few familiar names lifting trophies while some teams earned redemption following disappointing performances in 2022.
On the boys side, the Division 1 and 2 championships were decided at The Golf Club at Basin Harbor. Rutland and Hartford won team titles while Garret Cameron and Lucas Politano won individual honors.
In Division 1, the Rutland boys team fired a 315 (+31). Sebastian Pell led the way with a 76 that included nine straight pars on his front nine. Kyle Blanchard (77), Samuel Arnold (78), and Oliver Graves (74) were the other counting scores for the squad that bounced back from a last-place finish in the 2022 state championship. They improved on last year’s score by a staggering 51 shots.
South Burlington finished as runner-up, 11 shots behind Rutland. Evan Marchessault shot 79 to lead the way for his team.
