Despite the tough conditions and high scores, there was the notable crossing of the paths by Jack Boulger and his brother Eric Boulger. The brothers hail from Walpole, Mass. Jack, a graduate student at the University of Southern California, shot 229, while Eric, a sophomore at UConn, shot 242. Jack Boulger played three seasons for UConn before transferring out west.
UConn’s leading scorer was Jared Nelson (73-79-74 for T-41) of Rutland, Vt., but the Huskies struggled overall, finishing 15th in the 16-team field.
Michigan’s Jack O’Donnell, a junior from Cohasset, Mass., who went to Boston College High School, shot 75-78-82 as an individual. His team finished joint second.
