Yvette O'Brien (Greenwich, Conn.) and Carys Fennessy (Dover, N.H.) were the first two New England golfers from the class of 2025 to make verbal commitments to play Division 1 college golf.
O'Brien will join Texas Christian University and Fennessy has verbally committed to the College of Charleston.
Over the last few years, O'Brien has been deep in the competitive golf scene, both regionally and nationally. Close to home, she won the 2022 Conn. Junior Girls title and the Pippy O'Connor Championship. In the last calendar year, O'Brien has won twice and recorded eight top-five finishes.
In this story, we talk to O'Brien and Fennessy about their decision-making process before they chose their colleges.
