Babson College is moving on and Jackson Rothwell is moving high.
It’s been a superb first two days for Rothwell at the NCAA Division 3 championship in Howey-in-the-Hills, Fla. His back-to-back rounds of 72 leave him in a tie for sixth place out of 221 golfers, and he even shared the lead for a short stretch Wednesday afternoon as his round wound down.
Rothwell’s play has been the catalyst for Babson making the 36-hole cut as a team, and the Beavers sit in a tie for eighth place entering Thursday’s third round, setting the program up for its best finish ever with two rounds to play.
Babson (34-over) enters the third round 25 shots off the pace being set by Methodist (N.C.), which is at 9-over. Carnegie-Mellon (15-over) and Hampden-Sydney (17-over) sit second and third, respectively. The top 18 teams made the cut, plus the six best individuals not on one of those teams.
