When Chris Hayes was named coach of the BC High boys' golf team in 2011, he was given one piece of advice.
“You are being given a sports car,” the guidance started.
“Don’t crash it,” was the mic drop.
Other than that, no pressure whatsoever.
However tongue-in-cheek that welcome might have been to the first-year coach, he needed no such warning. He was already well aware of the monumental task in front of him.
