Plans are sensible to make, even more wonderful when they unfold neatly. That pretty much puts a tidy bow around the golf world of Doug Clapp these days.
Arguably one of the most consistent golfers on the amateur scene, Clapp – who lives in Manomet, Mass., and plays out of Old Sandwich in Plymouth – has pushed it up a notch or two in the last few years.
Turning 55, it appears, wasn’t such a bad thing.
“I definitely had a little mini-plan,” chuckled Clapp. “I wanted to focus on and go play what I could (against fellow amateur seniors in national competition that starts at age 55). Like Society of Seniors and the R&A Amateur Championship.”
Throw in the U.S. Senior Amateur and Clapp is now fully invested in that scene. It’s been nothing short of a rousingly fun ride.
