Some seriously good Golf Channel time was given to collegiate golfers Tuesday and Wednesday in the Jackson T. Stephens Cup from vaunted Seminole GC in Juno Beach, Fla.
That was good news for local fans who were afforded a rare chance to watch two New Englanders who are playing superbly this fall.
Cole Anderson, a redshirt junior from Camden, Maine, helped Florida State to a runner-up finish, while Michael Thorbjornsen of Wellesley, Mass., was again Stanford’s leading man in the Cardinal’s third-place effort.
The format was three rounds of stroke play and the results there were pretty much a carbon copy of what’s been going on in college golf this fall – North Carolina was clearly the superior team. The Tar Heels easily placed first and thus drew No. 2 Florida State in match-play on Day 4.
